CapSettle Roaming – Solution Overview
The CapSettle Roaming solution is used for handling roaming settlements between international and national operators, MVNOs, and service providers.

The solution supports administration and maintenance of roaming agreements, encoding and decoding of outgoing and incoming TAP and RAP files, reports generation, invoicing and handling multiple currencies in parallel.

It also provides support for fraud prevention functionality, known as Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE).

Inbound Roaming
For inbound roaming, CapSettle collects all type of different roaming records from the mediation system, rates the records according the roaming agreement IOT and creates TAP and NRTRDE output files. These are then distributed to the data clearing house or directly to partner operators.

Outbound Roaming
For outbound roaming, CapSettle receives TAP and/or NRTRDE files from the clearing house or partner operator, re-rates the information and for TAP send the transactions to the retail billing system. For NRTRDE, CapSettle interfaces the fraud management system and stores the information internally for fraud reporting. TAP files are decoded and re-rating or mark-up is taking place before sending the transactions to the billing system for charging the end subscriber.

Reporting and Business Intelligence
CapSettle is equipped with automatic invoice statement generation. In addition, CapWrap, our solution for dynamic reporting and business intelligence, provides further reporting and analysing possibilities for the roaming data.

Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange

Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE) is a requirement for GSM operators with the purpose of reducing revenue loss due to roaming fraud. The GSM Association (GSMA) introduced NRTRDE to replace the High Usage Report (HUR) which was the standard method of frequently exchanging roaming usage data and detect fraud until October 2008, when GSMA made NRTRDE implementation mandatory for all GSMA members.

With NRTRDE, partner operators only have a maximum window of 4 hours to exchange files, as opposed to the 36 hour window given by the HUR standard.

Features & Benefits of the CapSettle NRTRDE solution

  • Eliminate losses due to roaming fraud
  • Automatic reporting
  • Fast deployment and easy to use interface
  • Roaming focus & secure roadmap

This will allow for fast detection of fraudulent activities and unauthorised network usage.

With the CapSettle Roaming – NRTRDE solution, operators are able to receive and distribute NRTRDE files, as well as generate File Delivery -and Error reports.
